More about Natural lip balmIn my previous post, i show you guys how to make a lip balm naturally.okay. now let me explain my choice of ingredient. 1st - jojoba oil - jojoba oil is structurally and chemically very similar to the human sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in our skin because sebum is also largely comprised of wax mono esters. In most cases, it can act as a substitute while giving similar or added benefits compared to sebum. more information on jojoba oil can be found here http://thejojobaoil.com/. On top of that, jojoba oil has slight SPF which help in sun protection. 2nd - sweet almond oil - It absorbs into the skin with medium-fast speed and is a nongreasy moisturizer. While it is used for all skin types, sweet almond oil is particularly effective for dry skin that is prone to itching and irritation. 3rd - beeswax - beeswax is use as a binder to bind the oil so that upon cooled, the oil will harden and become semi solid which we can use as a balm. Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the beehive of honey bees of the genus Apis. Unless a person is allergy to bees product, this is a good natural binder to be used. 4th - Rose absolute, Geranium oil - Geranium oil usually help in the balancing of hormone in aromatherapy and rose absolute give a refreshing rose frangrance which help in uplifting of mood. These essential oil not only smell nice but help to maintain a person's mood as well. 5th - Vitamin E oil - Applying vitamin E oil to the skin has many beneficial uses, including offering antioxidants to protect against free radicals, reduce the signs of aging and replenish the vitamin in our bodies after sun or air pollution. Vitamin E will help to enhance the shelf life of oil product and thus the lip balm can be kept for a longer period as well. its fun to learn abt all these natural pdts... and making natural pdts... i think we are in an age that things are really unhealthy and extra steps are necessary to maintain a better health. itz really fun... but really an expensive hobby too... =P Got washed up on the beach @ 3/27/2012 11:51:00 AM
