How to make a natural lip balmThis is a guide to how to make you own lip balm at home. The benefit is that you know what went into the lip balm that you are using. On top of that, you get to choose the essential oil that you would like to add in which serve for therapeutic reason. First, let us see what are the ingredients use. I have sweet almond oil, jojoba oil (organic), beeswax, geranium essential oil, rose absolute essential oil, vitamin E oil and of cos, the lip balm tube. The oils can be purchase online via www.iherb.com . Use my referral quote RUV778 if you are interested to buy. I bought the beeswax on ebay. But i notice that the booth selling honey in the Guardian in Vivocity do sell beeswax in block too. It cost $16 i think and based on the size, i think the block can make around 100 lip balms. This is the oil that I use in my lip balm for today. This is rose petal infuse oil. I infuse rose petals with a mixture of sweet almond oil and jojoba oil (organic) in 50/50. By infusing the oil, you allow the goodness in the rose petals to be extracted into the oil First, put these ingredients in a metal/glass container (I got the metal container in Daiso). Measure about 2gm of beeswax and 5-7ml of the infuse oil and put them in the metal/glass container as below. Next, lets move to the kitchen. Boil some water in a pan. When the water boil, switch off the fire and put the metal/glass container in it. Stir the mixture with a satay stick until the beeswax all melted. Add around 2-3 drop of the vitamin E oil, 1-2 drop of the geranium essential oil, 2-5 drops of the rose absolute essential oil into the mixture. Next take the metal/glass container out and start pouring into the lip balm tube. There you are, your very own home made lip balm. Once it started to harden, you can cap it and wait around 2 hours for it to fully harden and tada~~ your lip balm is ready for use. I have chose rose absolute essential oil for the rose fragrance and it provide comforting effect. Geranium help in balancing hormones. if you like calming effect, you can use lavendar essential oil instead. the oil, you can make an lavendar infuse oil to bring out a stronger smell... I will be making more things in the future to post it here... Stay tune... =) Got washed up on the beach @ 3/22/2012 10:25:00 PM
