17 Again~~~~

The movie starts in 1989 at Hayden High School. Mike O'Donnell is the star basketball player in his senior year, about to play his last game where a scout is there to see if he is worthy of a scholarship to Syracuse University. His girlfriend, Scarlet (Allison Miller), tells him she is pregnant just before he goes on the court, and when the game starts Mike leaves to follow Scarlet, therefore giving up the chance for a scholarship.

20 years later, Mike is 37 and living in L.A. with his geeky software tycoon best friend Ned Gold after being kicked out of home by wife Scarlet. His daughter Maggie and son Alex want nothing to do with him. His life hits rock bottom when he is turned down for a promotion at work and then fired. Mike goes back to his old high school to reminisce about the "golden days", before he gave up the life he could have had in order to support Scarlet. He meets the school janitor and tells him he wishes he could do it all over again. As he is driving home that night in the rain, he sees an old man about to jump off a bridge and soon realizes it is the janitor he met earlier in the day. Mike leans over the bridge, sees a reflection of himself at 17, and falls off. He returns to Ned's house, and looking in the mirror discovers he has turned into his 17-year-old-self again. Then him and Ned have a battle. Having convinced Ned that he is himself. Mike goes to the school to confront the janitor, to discover no one has ever heard of him. While there, Mike sees a basketball practice and realizes he now has the chance to go back to high school and live the life he always wanted.

Ned reluctantly pretends to be Mike's father in order for Mike to apply for high school.Under the alias, Mark Gold, Mike befriends Alex, and finds out that Alex is being bullied by Maggie's basketball-captain boyfriend Stan. Stan insults Alex in the lunch room, and Mike defends Alex. Mike realizes through this that his mission from the Spirit Guide isn't to excel at basketball and get a scholarship for college, but rather to help out his kids.

In the process of acheiving his mission, Mike also realizes that he still loves Scarlet and wants to be part of the family again. He and Ned race to court for Mike and Scarlet's divorce hearing. "Mark" says that Mike is overseas, but that he has sent a letter to read out to Scarlet. Mike cries as he reads out the letter, which describes how much he loves her and wants to be with her, but that if she wants a divorce he won't stop it because he loves her. After reading out the letter, Mike runs off but leaves the letter behind, and Scarlet sees that all that is on the paper is directions to the courthouse, and that "Mark" had improvised the letter. She then postpones the divorce for thirty days.

Mike gives up on rejoining his family, thinking they're happier without him, and settles for trying once again for the basketball scholarship. Before the game, the beginning of the film is repeated when Mike practices shooting hoops and the coach comes in and tells him that college scouts will be there. Ned (wearing a big brown cloak) approaches Principal Masterson, who again states that she can't be seen with parents of students. Ned replies that how can she be seen with him when he is wearing a cloak of invisibility, and they rekindle their romance. As the game begins, Mike sees Scarlet in the crowd, and "shoots" a kiss as if throwing a basketball, something he used to do when they were young. Through this, Scarlet finally believes that Mark is really Mike. She leaves the gym, unable to handle the realization. Mike dribbles the ball, and flashes back to this same situation 20 years ago (scholarship or Scarlet). He realizes that he wants Scarlet, and makes the same decision he did back then by giving the ball to Alex and chasing after Scarlet. While running after Scarlet, Mike turns back into his 37-year-old self. He and Scarlet realize they still love each other, and decide to get back together.
